Priority 4: High expectations for every child
Inclusion
"Every child has a strong sense of self and a sense of inclusion in a supportive community"
Everyone is welcome and everyone is included across the federation. Barriers to learning and involvement are identified and removed. Staff receive ongoing and targeted training to ensure a fully inclusive culture is embedded deeply across the federation.
All children have access to high quality, adapted teaching in a welcoming and supportive environment. Early and accurate identification and assessment ensures the needs of all pupils are understood in order to enable pupils with SEND or EAL to make progress. Staff are well trained and confident in knowing how to meet the needs of all children, they are well supported in this role. Support staff are effectively deployed. Teachers are fully accountable for the assessment and progress of all children in their care, without exception. Parents are included as the 'first educators' of their child and are involved in decision making and review. Communication is strong. Record keeping is relevant and robust.
The federation has a robust anti-racist approach. Staff understand what this means and regularly review their unconscious bias training and reflect on their practice to ensure any issues are addressed.
The federation strives to meet the needs of all 'disadvantaged children' and ensures potential barriers for these learners are identified and addressed. This is underpinned by strong leadership and staff training.
